The Minnesota Timberwolves have taken a 1-0 lead in their Western Conference semifinal series against the Denver Nuggets after a convincing 112-97 victory in Game 1. Anthony Edwards led the way for the Timberwolves with a game-high 43 points, while Nikola Jokic paced the Nuggets with 40 points and 13 assists.

The Timberwolves got off to a strong start in the first quarter, taking an early 10-point lead. The Nuggets fought back in the second quarter, but the Timberwolves managed to maintain their lead heading into halftime. In the third quarter, the Timberwolves extended their lead to 15 points, and they held on for the victory in the fourth quarter.

In addition to Edwards' big night, Karl-Anthony Towns added 25 points and 12 rebounds for the Timberwolves. D'Angelo Russell also chipped in with 17 points. For the Nuggets, Jokic was the only player to score in double figures. Aaron Gordon added 11 points, while Monte Morris had 10 points.

The Timberwolves will look to take a 2-0 lead in the series in Game 2 on Tuesday night. The Nuggets will need to find a way to slow down Edwards if they want to even the series.
